Fields and Driving

The matches of the San Francisco Cup are played in Golden Gate Park at the Beach Chalet Fields, Crocker Amazon (new artificial turf fields for 2009) and at the University of San Francisco Negoesco Stadium.

Travel Advisories

The Directors of the San Francisco Cup strongly recommend that all teams allow for sufficient driving time to the fields. Tourists flock to San Francisco to enjoy the numerous events taking place during the Memorial Day Weekend.

San Francisco State University commencement ceremonies will take place on Saturday, May 29, 2010, starting at 10:00 AM. Expect heavy traffic and delays on Lake Merced Boulevard near SFSU and Stonestown Shopping Center.

When parking in Golden Gate Park, PARK ON PAVEMENT ONLY. If you park on vegetation, dirt or any other unpaved area, you will be ticketed.

Additional Directions

The Fell Street and Octavia Boulevard on-ramp construction project from 101 North and I-80 West has finally been completed! This effects drivers from the East Bay and Peninsula.

Inbound from the East Bay:

From the Bay Bridge (I-80 Westbound):

  • Take the Octavia Boulevard exit directly on to Octavia Boulevard
  • at the bottom of the ramp, go straight ahead on to Octavia
  • turn left on to Fell Street and head west to Golden Gate Park

Inbound from the Peninsula:

We recommend you avoid Highway 101 into San Francisco by coming up I-280. Use Highway 92 and I-380 to cross the Peninsula from 101 to I-280.

For games at Kezar Stadium and USF, take the 19th Avenue exit as I-280 enters San Francisco.

For games at the Beach Chalet, there are two routes depending on the commencement ceremony at SFSU. On Saturday morning take the John Daly Boulevard exit in Daly City. Head west on John Daly Boulevard, then north on Skyline Blvd, and continue north on the Great Highway to the western end of Golden Gate Park. Alternatively, take the westerly Crossover Drive exit from 19th Avenue in Golden Gate Park. At all other times, take the Brotherhood Way exit westbound, then turn right on Lake Merced, then turn right on Sunset Boulevard into Golden Gate Park.

If you wish to continue on 101 into San Francisco:

  • Take the Octavia Boulevard exit directly on to Octavia Boulevard
  • at the bottom of the ramp, go straight ahead on to Octavia
  • turn left on to Fell Street and head west to Golden Gate Park

Inbound from Marin County:

  • Take 101 South over the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Immediately bear to the right, and turn right to access 19th Avenue headed South
  • Follow 19th Avenue straight ahead to access Golden Gate Park
